Butterfly Kisses Sequal

Angel In The Darkness Sequel: Butterfly Kisses

Chp. 1

Justin’s knees tremble, touching her injured face gently, as she sleeps. His lips tremble, meeting her face. Bandages cover her body. He’s allowed a few minutes with her, before they take her to surgery.

He blocks out the sound of people laughing at him. He’s been harassed since he arrived at the hospital. Their comments are more than he can take, at this point. They have no idea what she means to him.

Aalyiah sighs groggily, “Is the baby alright?”

Justin wraps his hands around hers. “The doctor’s aren’t sure the baby will make it. You fell very hard, and did damage to the uterus.”

She blanks out from the sedative, as the doctors rush her into the operating room.

Justin can’t breathe. Every minute is like an hour to him. His eyes are red from crying. He jumps up from the waiting room chair, after seeing Aalyiah’s doctor. “How is she?”

The doctor pats his shoulder. “She’s going to be fine.”

He lets out a sigh, “And the baby?”

“The baby is in intensive care. As you realize he’s premature. The infant suffered few other injures, however. You may see both of them.”

Justin follows the man to a room where Aalyiah is sound asleep, hooked up to all sorts of monitors. He kisses her forehead, hoping for a response, but she’s heavily sedated. His breathing is returning to normal, as he stays by her side.

Her eyes open momentarily, taking in the surroundings. She mumbles about finally having her angel by her side. She drifts in and out of sleep, as Justin spends time with their son.

Justin doesn’t care that the baby is in ICU, as long as he’s alive. He looks at him through the glass window attached to many wires. His heart aches, wanting to hold his baby son. Tears fall from his face.

He raises his eyebrows, glancing at the grave looks on the doctors faces. He swallows hard as one of the doctors comes toward him. “What’s going on with my son?”

“We revived him, Mr. Timberlake. It’s very common for babies this young to stop breathing, and have their hearts stop. He should be fine. We just need to watch him closely. Have you chosen a name for him?”

Justin’s breathing is labored, “Christopher Tyler Timberlake. I’d like his sister to see him, if that’s possible. “

“That’s fine, Mr. Timberlake.”

Nine month old Daisy comes to New York City with Justin’s Mom, Lynn, and his best pal Trace Alya. The threesome arrive at the hospital the following day. Justin welcomes them all, nearly falling apart at the sight of his nine month old little girl.

“Daddy,” is the first word uttered by the angelic toddler, upon setting her eyes on Justin.

Justin takes in her beauty, like he does with Daisy’s Mom. He adores the youngster’s innocence, eating it up. He plays with the tiny butterfly hair pieces in her soft hair.

Daisy giggles, kissing Justin. “Butt-er fly kiss, Daddy.”

Justin stares at his Mom confused, “Butterfly kisses?”

Lyn explains, “Every time I put those in her hair I gave her a kiss, telling her those were butterfly kisses.”

Justin laughs, hugging the toddler. “Daddy’s going to give you lots of butterfly kisses. I promise! Let’s go see your little brother Christopher.”

The four go to see baby Christopher.

Chp. 2

Justin gazes in Aalyiah’s hospital room filled with an array of fresh orange, red, yellow, pink and white roses. It brightens the room, and his sprit.

Water droplets fall from the roses, as a tear slides down one of his rosy red cheeks. He takes a deep breath, and enters the room.

He pulls up a chair beside her bed. Justin grasps her motionless fingers, saying a short prayer that he’ll be able to take her home. He’s been praying everyday, for nearly a month, but due to complications she has to stay longer.

Justin comes early every morning, and leaves when visiting hours are over. He goes between his girlfriend’s room, and where his son is.

The harsh autumn air brushes against his face, walking down the dark New York City Street. Disruptive whispers come from behind him. He turns around stomping his foot, frowning at the small group of jerks. “Leave me alone! I love her, and my son and daughter!”

The two troublesome twenty year olds grumbled, ready to attack him, with more verbal abuse. “Burst into tears Baby! Cry me a river! You should know that dating a girl off the street would cause you trouble. Hey it may win you another Grammy!”

Justin snaps, “You boys shouldn’t fret about me winning Grammies! Goodbye boys! I have more important things to do. My girlfriend, and baby are sick, and they need me. Next time you harass me, I’ll have you arrested. Tell everyone else to stop belly aching about my choices. I know what I want in my life, and realize this is all worth fighting for!”

He turns back around, and begins walking, hearing the two mocking him. “Stop it,” he shouts! Justin faces them, ready to throw something at them, but refrains himself, knowing this is what they want him to do.

A southern voice yells, “Justin, over here. Justin raises his eyebrows. He searches the dark street, and notices a man standing with a flashlight, outside of one of the stores, nearby. “Justin, don’t you want to see this music box?” He nods his head, moving toward the young man.

Justin makes his way into the small shop. “What’s the deal?”

The nineteen year old smiles slightly, “Saving your butt! Trust me you don’t want to be fooling with them. You thought those cops were bad, those two are just as bad, if not worse. What’s a high profile celebrity like yourself doing out on the streets of New York City?”

Justin’s eyes dim, “I was visiting with my girlfriend at the hospital.”

A few minutes later, Justin’s eyes beam with delight. “I didn’t know you actually had music boxes”, as he toys with the one that plays a familiar tune.

The nineteen year old laughs, “I’ve never seen a guy interested in a music box. Typically, girls are the ones all into those.”

Justin blushes, “My daughter- to- be is into butterflies. This music box plays ‘Butterfly Kisses’ I think she’d love this. How much is it?”

“You can have it for free, Justin.”

“I need to pay you something for it.”

“No, you’ve done enough for me. It’s the least I could do for you.”

Justin’s eyes widen, “What’d I do?”

“You gave me the chance to express myself, and taught me that if I worked I hard could achieve anything. It’s yours. Take it.”

“Well I don’t know what to say. It’s nice to inspire people. Why don’t you come with me tomorrow to the hospital to meet Aalyiah, and our son? What’s your name?”

“I’d be honored. My name is Brad.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Brad. How about we meet here at eight a.m.?”

Brad’s faces glows, with enjoyment, “Sure. Hope the little one enjoys the music box.”

Justin smiles, “I think she will.”

Chp. 3

Justin rushes into Aalyiah’s room, watching the doctors around her move frantically. A nightmare atmosphere surrounds him. Justin’s heart is ready to leap out of his chest, as his breathing becomes more labored. He moves quickly to her side, as the doctors leave, not telling him a word on her current condition.

His hands tremble, touching her thin chilled hands. His lips lightly touch her cheek, leaving a lasting impression on her.

Her eyes open, “Hi, Sweetheart.”

Justin sighs, “How are you?” He realizes she has no memory of not being able to breathe. Maybe she’s too sedated to know what’s going on.

His wish is to hold her in his arms, and have her remember it. “Can I hold you, Aalyiah? I promise I won’t touch your sores.”

He sits on the bed, getting her in his arms. Her head rests across his shoulder. He cherishes the moments with her. It saddens him that she’s so lifeless. He rests her body back on the bedding.

Aalyiah grins, “We’re going to go home, soon!”

Justin runs his trembling fingers through her hair, “Of course we are. God’s watching over you, and our children.”

Brad comes into the room, “What happened?”

Justin rolls his eyes, “Sorry about that, Man. I got a call from the hospital saying Aalyiah coded, and I took off. I didn’t mean to just take off, but I wanted to be there for her.”

“It’s alright, as long as she’s okay.”

“I’ll make this up to you, Man!”

Two days have passed, Justin grasps onto the wheelchair handles. Aalyiah’s going home, on a trial basis, as long as Justin’s watching her. He pushes her slowly out of the hospital. The two are meeting up with family at the house.

Their son isn’t quite old enough to be released yet, but will be in another couple of weeks.

Chp. 4

Daisy toddles over to Justin, who is setting up balloons for the one year old’s party. She tugs at his shirt, smiling, "Daddy!”

He gazes down at her, “Hey there. You like the balloons, Sweetheart?”

She nods her head, as he picks her up in his arms. Her small hands touch the brightly colored balloons. Daisy glances upward, as one of the balloons is released from her hand, “Bye, bye?”

Justin chuckles, “It won’t go too far, Daisy. We need to get you dressed for your party.”

He carries her into his Tennessee childhood home, bringing her upstairs to his old room. Justin steps into the room, as many memories flood his mind. Justin hasn’t been in this room for over a year. It’s as if time has been still ever since. Nothing seems to have changed. He makes his way toward the changing table.

The youngster’s eyes meet Justin, as he dresses her in a baby blue dress, and princess hat. Daisy pulls at the hat, “No!”

“It’s a pretty hat, Darling! Please wear it for Daddy!?”

She giggles, as he tickles her stomach, forgetting about the hat. Daisy is content playing with her father- to- be. She babbles, as he sings the Happy Birthday Song.”

Justin’s soft voice is lulling to the young toddler, as he holds her in a rocking chair, to calm her down before the party begins. Justin gets up from the rocking chair slowly, as he sees Aalyiah coming with baby Christopher.

Christopher coos sleepily in his soft blue blanket. His tiny fingers grasp onto Aalyiah’s, as Christopher’s warm brown eyes open and shut. He tries to make out his new surroundings.

The two quietly walk downstairs, and sit on the comfy couch. Justin and Aalyiah lay their heads back on the soft padding, with the babies in their arms.

Justin turns his head towards Aalyiah, “The doctor says you should be resting. The medicine you’re on makes you tired for a reason. I’ll watch both of the babies.”

“I’ll be fine,” she says yawning. “I’m almost completely recovered. I only need the medicine for a couple more days.”
Justin kisses Aalyiah’s forehead, taking Christopher, before she loses her grip of him. He takes a blanket and covers her. He smiles, watching her sleep, as he cares for the two youngsters.

Daisy is now up playing on the floor, with a bunch of oversized soft building blocks. Justin is alongside her with Christopher sleeping in his arms. She peeks through the opening of the blocks that are stacked. She begins pointing at something outside.

Jonathan comes running over to Justin. “We brought the pony!”

Justin smiles, “Tell Daddy and Grandma Timberlake I said thank you. I have to look after these two youngsters, at this time. Where’s Steven?”

“Steven’s with Daddy, feeding the pony.”

Daisy’s eyeing the white pony outside, with the pink balloons near it. She marvels at the pony, “Want!”

“We’ll see the pony in a bit, Sweetheart.”

Chp. 5

Justin lifts Daisy up, placing her on the pony. He holds her as Jonathan walks the horse slowly. His blue eyes light up, seeing her smile. She takes his mind off all the terrible things that have happened lately. His head is full of uncertain questions, as the ride comes to an end.

Aalyiah walks up to him, putting her hand on his shoulder. “You’re doing just fine with her. She adores you.”

Justin sighs, “I hope so.” He turns around, peering into her chocolate eyes, “Thanks.”

Jonathan glances back at his older brother, with a confused look. He’s been giving Justin odd expressions since he arrived. He keeps his thoughts to himself.

Justin takes her off the pony. “Our friend Brad is coming, for cake.”

Christopher lies sleeping in Aalyiah’s arms, as Justin sits with Daisy at the table. A large pony cake is in the center, with a number one candle.

Her small fingers dive into the half chocolate and half vanilla cake. White, pink, yellow, and orange frosting covers the toddler’s fingers, and soon Justin’s pants. She giggles, throwing her small limbs up in the air. Her small hands make an imprint on Justin’s blue jeans. Not much cake makes its way into the young child’s mouth.

Brad laughs, “She’s got you, Man.”

Justin smirks in Brad’s direction. He takes one of his fingers and scoops up some frosting, and wipes it on Brad. Justin says, “Now I have you marked.”

“That’s fine with me, J. You’d better pay attention to Daisy!”

Justin grabs a napkin quickly, noticing her entire head is covered with frosting. He makes quick work to remove the sticky substance.

The one year old’s eyes widen as a shiny box is placed in front of her. She marvels at the sparkly object, with many shades of colors and a pink ribbon. Justin helps her unveil what lies inside. Everyone’s attention is on the small child. She stares at the wooden box with hearts on the side, and opens the drawers, eventually coming to the top one. Music begins to play.

Justin grins, “Happy Birthday, Daisy.” He takes her in his arms, hugging her snuggly.

Chp. 6

Two days later, Justin rubs his eyes, glancing down at the letter in his hand. He brings it closer to his face, “That must be a mistake. I’m not even on the draft for the team. I’ve never even tried out for the Grizzles Basketball Team.”

He places the mail on the table, staring at the letter. Basketball is a strong love of his, so this letter crushes him. He’s always wanted to play pro basketball, but never had the opportunities, besides music soon over shadowed his basketball dreams. He wishes he could have at least tried to make a team but knows that is very unlikely. However, he also remembers that he never imagined becoming so huge in the music industry.

He crumples the paper, into a ball, imaging it’s a basketball, bringing back to memory the bright orange ball, with bumps, and bold black lines circling it. He sighs, eyeing the garbage can across from him. He moves his hand forward, grasping onto the crinkled paper, taking aim, “And Timberlake scores! This is Timberlake’s first score of the evening. This is the win this team needed.”

Aalyiah can’t help but burst into laughter. “That was good Sweetie. I’m not too sure about you talking to yourself, though. Maybe you need to get back to recording. I don’t want you cracking before we even get married.”

Justin blushes, “I wasn’t really talking to myself. I’m fine. Are Daisy and Christopher still asleep?”

“Yep, they’re sleepy heads.” She yawns, “I can be a sleepy head too! I guess they take after me.”

Justin’s cell phone goes off. “Hold on Aalyiah. I’m going to see who this is.”

Justin says, “Hello?”

“Hi Mr. Timberlake, this is the coach of the Grizzly’s Basketball Team. We sent you a letter via mail, asking if you’d like to be on our team for a bit. We’ve seen you playing in the NBA All Star Game, and can tell you have potential to be a class ball player. What do you think about it?”

Justin’s heart begins to race, “I ugh don’t know. Can………I think it over?”

“Sure you can, Justin. Why don’t you come to our game tomorrow night, and hang out with the team?”

“That’d be wicked cool! Can I bring my family?”

“Sure, bring the family.”

Chp. 7

The locker room is quiet, as Justin walks in with the coach, until whispers begin.

Justin glances at the coach nervously, hoping he’d settle the players.

“Boys, this might be our new recruit. He’s going to try out his stuff tonight. You may know him from his solo career, or days as one fifth of *NSYNC. Justin has the skills to take us to the championship. I’ll leave to let all of you become acquainted.

Justin rubs his sweaty palms, as all eyes glare at him. He gulps hard. They remind him of a hungry pack of wolves, ready to jump on their prey, and Justin is their almighty feast. His heart beats fast, picking up pace with each minute that passes by.

He recognizes all of them. Most are around his age, and college bound. But, this doesn’t ease his mind, as he steps backward, in fear. Sweats drips down his back, and off his pale worried face.

Year three veteran Pau Gasol steps forward, toppling Justin in height, at seven feet. He places his hand on Justin’s shoulder. “These guys are tough, but you’ll do just fine. Here’s a towel to wipe off that sweat.”

Mike Miller is next in line to speak to Justin. At 6 feet eight inches, and two hundred and eighteen pounds he stands straight up, placing his hand under Justin’s trembling chin. “Posture is everything. Keep your head up. I’ll see you out on the court.”

African American James Posy laughs from the bench, “Just don’t be writing any songs about us and you’ll do great.”

Justin nods his head, “I won’t be, Sir.”

James laughs, “No need to call me, Sir. This is basketball, Son, not some fancy restaurant. Just relax. You’re too tense.”

If the locker room wasn’t hard for him, the crowd at the game surely will take its toll on him.

Silence fills the Pyramid, in Memphis, Tennessee as the players are announced one by one, and their rivals, the Minnesota Timberwolves, reveal themselves to the now roaring crowd. The crowd goes ballistic, as the announcer begins to speak, and bright stage type light flashes in Justin’s direction.
“Joining the team tonight is two time Grammy winner, father of two, *NSYNC star, and Tennessee born, Justin Timberlake. Justin shown us all his skills when he appeared on our NBA All Star Game back in 2002. This six feet, blue eyed, twenty-three year old is ready to take the Grizzles to victory, this fine evening.”

It’s the fourth quarter, and Grizzles are behind by two points, as The Timberwolves attempt to stomp all over them. The clock is counting down the final minutes.

Justin captures the ball, and begins dribbling towards the hoop. The ball passes through his hands smoothly, as his eyes follow the point guards. He manages to maneuver around them, passing the ball to James.

James keeps the ball at a steady pace, waiting for the right moment to throw the ball into the hoop. The ball fits comfortably in between his fingers, as he jumps from mid court, with a blocker in front.

Swoosh…. the ball makes it way through the hoop, as the clock reaches zero. The game is now tied, and whichever team gets the final shot will be declared the winner. There is a quick coin toss to decide which team will have their shot first. The opposing team wins the coin toss, but it doesn’t mean they’ve won the war, the coach insists.

Justin closes his eyes. “We’re going to lose. I just know it.” His eyes open just as Mike takes the ball from one of Timberwolve’s hands. “Maybe, we do have a chance.” The ball comes at him head on, “Or not”, he sighs, taking the ball into his shaky hands.

“He closes his eyes as he shoots!”

A loud roar comes from the crowd, as he opens his eyes.

The announcer yells, “Justin brought us or victory folks! We surly hope he’ll stay with us for the remainder of the season.”

Chp. 8

While the game went on, Jonathan Timberlake, and girl pal Jamie Lynn Spears see a movie together. Brad oversees the two preteens date, with Britney, Jamie’s older sister.

Jonathan takes a sip out of his soda. “I’d rather be at the game.”

Jamie sighs, “Thanks, I thought we were friends.”

He shrugs, “We are. I just miss my older brother. I don’t even know Brad.”

She whispers in his ear, “Let’s get out of here. This is no fun, if you’re not happy.” Jamie grabs his hand.

Brad glances at the two, “Where are you guys going?”

They answer, “Bathroom break.”

“Okay, but make it quick.” Brad’s quickly distracted, as he turns back at Britney.

Britney shakes her head, “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, just waiting on the kids to come back.”

She questions, “Where’d they go?”

His eyes widen,” Bathroom, is that bad?”

She grabs his hand pulling him from the seat, “Yes! They’re up to something. They only go together, if something’s going on. Let’s go to all their usual hang outs.”

“They’re kids. I doubt they can get into too much trouble, Britney.”

She frowns, “Two famous kids.”

The youngsters stop by the Disney Store. They walk inside marveling at the large character display. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, a crazy animated mop, and buckets reenact the Disney Classic “Fantasia.”

Disney collectables are everywhere. Jonathan catches up to Jamie, whose in love with all the stuffed Disney Characters. A large plush Mickey is being cuddled in her arms.

Jonathan tries to smile, but can’t force one upon his face. A tear runs down his hurt face, and Jamie comes running to his rescue.

“What’s wrong Jonathan?”

He cries, “I miss Justin!”

She admits, “I miss Britney at times too. You’ll see him soon.”

“I saw my Mom everyday, and now I can’t. I don’t want it to happen again!” He places his head on her shoulder.

She offers, “You’re going to get lots of time with Justin. Let’s go get some ice cream. It may make you feel better.”

Jonathan glances into the shop, and peers down at his watch. “Justin’s in there, Jamie. We can’t go in. We’re so dead, if he finds out we snuck out of the movies.” He sighs, “Why couldn’t I remember that he was going out for ice cream after the game?”

She smirks, “The movie’s not over yet. Let’s go back, and sit down, and they’ll never know. I realize they’re out looking for us, but we could have returned, and truly have gone to the bathroom.”

They make a mad dash down the hallways, going down the different paths, hoping they wouldn’t get caught.

Chp. 9

Jonathan and Jamie take their seats, and finish watching the movie.

Britney and Brad make their way back into the theater, after being notified by other people in the store where the two had headed.

Justin followed in pursuit, sighing. He understands Jonathan is acting out because he needs his older brother, so that’s exactly what he’s getting.

Jonathan gazes up at his older brother, “What are you doing here?”

He raises his eyebrows, “I heard you left the movies, and these two were out looking for you. I wish you wouldn’t run off on your own. You’re bound to get hurt.” He grabs Jonathan’s hand. “We need to talk about things.”

Jonathan’s silent in the car, aside from the tears running down his cheeks. He wipes them away.

Justin stops the car, at the end of the hill. “Let’s go!”
“Go where, Justin? It’s a big hill!”

Justin laughs, “Your Daddy took me here when I was little older than you. It’s a good place to talk, and look at the stars.” He sits down and gestures for Jonathan to sit down too.

“It’s very quiet! Why did Daddy take you here?”

“I was sad, like you are.”

Jonathan sits down beside Justin. “I’m sorry about tonight. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Justin warps his arm around him. “Don’t do it again. I don’t know what I’d do without you! I want you to be safe.” He pauses gazing down at his brother, as a slight grin comes over his face. Justin manages to get in a standing position, with Jonathan securely in his arms. He carries the boy to the car, and brings him home.

The drive is uneasy, as he keeps glancing at Jonathan. “I wish I could be here for everything that he goes through. He’s growing up so fast. I’ve missed so much of his early life. I hope he realizes how much I love him, and always will.”

Justin unlocks the door, with Jonathan in his arms, and makes his way towards Jonathan’s room. He places Jonathan on the bed, kissing his forehead.
Chp. 10

Justin sits beside Aalyiah, as the ultra sound begins, the next morning. He holds her hand, as she breathes heavily. “The doctors are going to take good care of you. Don’t blame yourself for the bleeding, Sweetheart.”

Justin’s used to the bleeding episodes, but every time it seems to increase, making her weaker. It’s hard to deal with the heartache, how her heart rate slows, her blood pressure drops, as she lies in his arms, lifeless. He asks God to bring her back, but wonders if that’s the right way to go.

The hospital room is cold, and dark, as he stays by her side. He shutters, “Why must she be so ill on Christmas Eve? It’s not fair! She’s not even awake. I want her back!”

The rubs his back, “She’s doing much better, Justin. We got her bleeding to stop. She’s just sleepy from the pain drugs.”

“Why does she have a breathing tube?”

“She needs extra support, because the drugs make her breathing irregular. Aalyiah won’t need it much longer. When she first came she was very ill, but now she’s a lot better off.”

“Does that tube hurt?”

“No, it causes her no pain. It’s like when somebody touches you when you’re sleeping. You don’t feel it.”

Aalyiah nudges Justin. “You’re having another nightmare.” Justin, stop worrying about me.”

His blue eyes open filled with tears, as he lifts his head. “No more bad dreams.” His eyes close, as his head falls back on the pillow.

She lays her head over his chest, feeling his heart beat fast, but starting to slow, because he knows Aalyiah’s alright. She speaks to him softly, in a comforting tone. “Justin, everything’s going to be fine. You have to let go. This is making you sick. You’ll forever be my angel in the darkness.

She runs her hands through his curls. “I’m right here. Shhh…………no more tears!” His tears dry up, as she talks to him, letting him take in her warmth.

She sighs, “He wakes more than Christopher. This can not be good for his health.”

Chp. 11

Justin lies down on the examine table, as the doctor begins to check him for his physical. Justin begins a fit of laughter, as the doctor presses on his stomach. He sits up, leaning forward, to have his back muscles checked out. “Ouch, it’s sore from the game last night.”

“You shouldn’t jump so much. You might really hurt your back. The best thing to do is stretch before playing. A heating pad might make your back feel better. Other than that, you’re in good health. How have your legs been?”

He yawns, “They’ve been good. I hardly ever use braces, only when I injury them.”

“Are you tired, Justin?”

He admits, “I haven’t been sleeping well.”

The doctor sits next to Justin. “What seems to be the problem?”

“I’m worried about my girlfriend’s health, since her near death experience.”

“How long has this been going on?”

Justin sighs, “September. I can’t get over it. May I go now?”

The doctor nods his head, seeing that Justin’s afraid to get treatment for his anxiety disorder.

Justin’s night terrors are becoming more frequent, and last longer. He’ll wake after screaming, “Aalyiah no!” His entire body trembles like a leaf, as sweat covers his face. The only way to get him back to sleep is for her to sing to him.

Aalyiah’s deeply concerned about the episode, because his heart rate went so high. She thinks he needs medicine to get him to sleep through the night. She’s at the emergency room with him, when the doctor suggests doing a simple procedure to rid Justin of these nightly horrors.

His eyes open with tears streaming down his wet cheeks. He glances around the white room, a bit confused. His body trembles,” Aalyiah?” His blue eyes begin to close. Justin’s breathing, and heart rate slows, after the doctor places the mask on his face.

The doctor gives Justin drugs that’ll hopefully make him forget about the terrible events that occurred. The doctor is blocking most of Justin’s brain activity, for twenty four hours.
Justin won’t remember going to sleep, and will be groggy upon waking up. He’s on a bunch of monitors, and a breathing device, since his breathing is being slowed.

The next morning the dosage is less, as the doctor prepares to get him in a natural sleep. When his body is ready he can come off the breathing device. By mid afternoon, Justin begins moving his body.

Justin doesn’t fully wake until morning. He’s very sleepy, and needs to be watched closely.

Aalyiah shows Justin a bunch of pictures, hoping he won’t remember the people in them. She’s overjoyed, when he comes up with guesses, rather than knowing. She prays that those thoughts have disappeared from his memory, so things will be better for him.

He smiles tiredly, realizing he just made his girlfriend overly happy. Justin’s unsure what he did.

Justin has visitors. Jonathan and Steven come by to see their older brother. He motions for the two to come over.

Jonathan hugs Justin tightly. “I thought you were sick like Mommy.” Tears drift down his cheeks.

Justin rubs his back soothingly. “I have no plans of leaving you two. I love you guys, so much!” Justin makes room for the two on his bed, trying not to fall asleep in front of them.

Steven gazes up at his older brother. “He needs a nap.”

Justin nods his head drowsily. I’ll be home, soon. He glances to the side, as his eyes close, “I love you, Aalyiah.”

The two boys stare at each other, giving odd expressions. Nobody but the kids and their brother are in the room. Their father hasn’t come in yet.

Chp. 12

“She’s gone”, one voice whispers. “She’s been out of his life for nearly four years, and yet he can’t move on.” Britney took a breath in. “Those kids need a mother. There is no way he should be doing this on his own, Bradley.”

Brad gazes in her direction. “It’s his life. He loved her, like nothing else. You can’t force him to move on. You have me.”

“Don’t get me wrong you’re great, but Justin’s not like any other guy I know. He’s sensitive, sweet, understanding, outgoing!”

“Stop, we’ve been chilling all this time, and you keep going on and on about him. Why don’t you just make your move, because I’m obviously off your radar?”

Britney twirls her long golden brown hair. “I just think Justin should be with me, even though I did wrong.”

Fifteen year old Jonathan Timberlake overhears the conversation, while chatting with his girlfriend Jamie Sprees. He pulls away from Jamie.

“Jonathan, what are you doing? We hardly get to see each other.”

He’s silent, as he takes a seat in the chair. “We need to talk in private. Let’s go outside on the patio. “

She follows him outside, and sits down beside him, gazing into his eyes. “What’s wrong? Is Britney bothering you again? I can have a talk with her if she is.”

“Justin’s not ready for a relationship, especially as high risk as your sister. He’s easily hurt, as you know. He doesn’t trust females, for the most part. Maybe he just needs more time to heal. I know it’s been four years.”

“It’s okay. I understand.”

“I don’t think things will ever be right between those two. It’s been so long, and they say they’re friends, but my brother seems to distance himself from her. He knows it was a big mistake, and people change, but he’s been hurt too much.” He pauses.

“I don’t want to see him hurt anymore. He’s been through so much. He’s been such a great brother, and fatherly figure, taking Steven and I in after we lost our father. I understand how he feels about losing ones that are special to you. I’ve lost two now.”

“It certainly has taken a toll on him, taking in two more kids. You’re brother is amazing. I don’t know how he managed to care for four young kids, being so young himself. It’s wrong for my sister to push him around, after all he’s been through. You’re family doesn’t deserve it.”

Chp. 13

Justin bends down to his son’s level. He plays with the child’s curls, before speaking. “Are you ready for preschool, Kido?”

The four year old grins. “Yep, Daddy! Why can’t you go?”

“I’m too big for preschool, Christopher. Last year you had lots of fun at preschool. You’ll meet lots of new friends! You need to give it a little bit longer.”

He cuddles Justin, “You’re my best friend.”

Justin sighs, “And I’ll always be. I want you to have lots of friends.”

Sleepy eyed Steven comes into the room. The ten year old takes a seat, at the table, glancing down at his already soggy cereal. He reads the Lucky Charms box, giggling at the mystery words all scrambled up.

Justin smiles at him, placing Steven’s bright red lunchbox on the table. “There’s your favorite lunch. I hope this time you actually eat lunch, Steven. It’s not good to go without.”

Steven glances at him. “I’m just not hungry.”

Justin hugs him, “Just try to! You need to eat.”

Fifteen minutes later, everyone’s in Justin’s vehicle. Justin’s brother sits in the passenger seat, as Steven sits with the two younger kids Daisy, six, and younger brother Christopher.

Justin drops off the older two boys, Jonathan and Steven. Next he brings Daisy to her first grade class room, happy that these youngsters don’t know he’s famous, just a daddy.

The hardest part of the day is getting Christopher to stay at preschool. Justin holds the crying child in his arms, rocking him. He sits down on one of the chairs, continuing to cradle his son. He takes one of the tabletop toys, and shows Christopher. “Look a microphone like Daddy’s. I bet your teacher Mrs. Alex would like to hear you sing.”

Alex nods her head. “We love to play music at preschool. Your daddy loves to sing too! Maybe Daddy will sing too!”

Justin blushes, moving the microphone in a singing position. He begins singing a funky version of one of his son’s favorite kid songs, adding a beatbox.

A smile comes over Christopher’s face, as he begins singing along.

While one Timberlake child is trying to get over the blues, another is falling in love, a love that’ll grow like a caterpillar to reveal a beautiful butterfly. Love is precious, and those that catch love will never forget the affects it has. Love eases the despair inside of this small girl, allowing her to begin her destiny.

What does the future hold for this six year old, that only love can bring, a destiny far greater than anyone can imagine. Ribbons and curls, filled with butterfly kisses are all she knows, for now.

Chp. 14

The water begins to flow into the tub, as Steven takes off his shirt, bending over the toilet, tears streaming down his face. He sticks his finger to the back of his throat, making himself gag enough to throw up.

After the violent urges to vomit, he takes off his pants, and jumps into the bathtub, submerging himself in the warm water, which washes away his crocodile tears, and soothes him enough to not tell anybody about his little secret.

He dries himself off, glancing at a magazine with his older brother Justin on the cover. “I want the perfect body like him.”

Justin glances at his younger brother, Steven. “Are you feeling okay? You seem so skinny.”

Steven nods his head. “I’m fine.”

As a concerned older brother, Justin takes Jonathan to the doctors. He hires Brad to care for the other kids, so he can focus on Jonathan.

His doctor comments on the weight loss, but has no reason for it. The doctor sends Steven home, where Justin will watch him carefully.

Steven never eats his lunch, but acts very hungry by the next meal, and seems to eat large portions. After he eats he tells his older brother he’s going to take a bath.

Justin shakes his head nervously, stepping into the bathroom. His eyes widen, in horror, glancing at the mess on the floor. He runs over to the tub pulling Steven out, drying him off quickly. Justin rushes Steven into the closest bedroom.

Jonathan turns around from his computer, and immediately comes to his younger brother’s aide. “What’s wrong with him,” he manages to get out?”

“He passed out in the tub. I heard cries, and then a thump, and rushed in to see what was going on. I knew he must have some kind of eating disorder. Steven’s so pale, and lethargic. Get me lots of warm blankets we’re going to bring him to the hospital. Call Brad and tell him we need a sitter for the two younger ones.”

Jonathan grabs a bunch of blankets, and throws them in the dryer, returning to the room, as he prepares to call Brad.

The hospital brings back horrible memories for Justin, as he sits cuddling Steven in his arms, with a blanket snuggly around Steven. Jonathan and Justin follow a nurse to a room, with Steven in Justin’s arms. Justin lays Steven on the bed.

Steven’s a pale wobbly ten year old. He’s unable to balance himself, from lack of food intake, and purging. His body is getting worse each day, so it’s best he’s finally getting the help he needs.

Chp. 15

The weeks and months pass them by, as Steven still has trouble with his eating disorder, bulimia. He goes in and out of it, needing to be hospitalized.

Daisy is heavily into Josh Myers, a boy her age. Her and Josh have been friends since the start of the school year, and the friendship keeps growing.

Justin smiles warmly, holding the musical jewelry box in his hands. Memories flood his mind, taking him in all sorts of directions, bringing back the tea parties, nights of lullabies in the rocking chair, and bedtime stories fit for a princess.

The favorite butterfly barrettes still find a home in her soft flowing curls, no matter how old she gets. She loves them, because they remind her of how special her relationship with her father is.

He’s always accepted her as if she were his own, and never once said no, do to race. Now that she’s older, she compares the butterflies to her relationship with her father.
The butterflies come in all different colors and shapes, but work together to create harmony, and peace. Mixed together they make something beautiful.

Butterfly kisses are a staple for the two, a feeling that they’ll always be connected, no matter what fate may bring their way. The moments are bitter sweet for Justin. It lingers on his mind about how much longer he’ll be given to share this with his baby girl. She’s growing up far to fast, in his eyes.

Christopher lies on his chest, but slowly gets up, looking into his eyes. “Daddy, I love you.”

Justin pulls himself to a sitting position, placing his hand around the child’s face. “I love you too, Buddy. Where’s Steven at?”

The child glances at him confused, “Don’t remember.” He claps, “Please play songs, Daddy”

“We will after we check on Steven. Come with Daddy, Christopher.” Justin grasps onto his hand, as they head off to find Steven. They search all the rooms, with no trace of him.

Justin picks up Christopher, and makes his way to the door, where Jonathan stands with Steven leaning against him, ready to pass out.

Jonathan helps his brother inside to the couch. He takes off Steven’s play jacket. “He’s real sick again. He must not be eating.”

Chp. 16

The strobe lights flash bright colors across the dance floor. Cool smoke fills the room, as the deejay plays the upbeat songs, on the highest volume. Usually Justin would be taking to the floor, dancing his heart out. He distracts himself with a sad song, he makes in his head.

“Been lost since she’s been gone,
It’s so hard to carry on.
My heart remains in so much pain.
Give anything, to be with her again.”

He watches the action from a chair, as a female takes a seat next to him. His eyes are dim, as his foot taps along with the beat, in perfect rhythm. Justin sings softly, gazing up, from his poor posture, to see where Trace is.

Justin’s terrified of being in the club, and doesn’t like that Trace left him all alone, and he couldn’t feel any smaller, closing his eyes trying to block out the painful visions he has in his head. Justin gets up from the seat, tripping over her feet.

He stutters, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to trip over your feet.”

“It’s okay. Are you alright?”

Justin forces a smile, “Yeah, Cameron.”

“I haven’t seen you in so long. You seem a little uneasy, Justin.”

“I’m just being shy.”

“Why aren’t you out there dancing?”

He sighs, “I will be, just needed a breather.”

She questions, “Justin Timberlake, you’re taking a break from dancing? I never thought I would see that. Something must be up. Why don’t you come with me?”

“No, I’d rather not.”

She pulls him to the dance floor, anyway, as soon as a ballad hits the air. Cameron moves him closer to her, noticing his stiff body, from nervousness. She rocks him.

Justin’s body loosens, as he thinks about Cameron, instead of the last time he came to a club. Though he doesn’t really feel up to dancing, he feels this is a good place to be, because another person is with him. After the song ends, his fears come back in full force.

He rubs his stomach, racing to the bathroom. He steps outside for fresh air, still sick with worry. He sees Cameron smoking a cigarette, and begins heading back into the club, not wanting to be sicker from the smoke.
Cameron recognizes the curly heart throb, by the tattoo on his neck. His shirt is low enough for her to make out the top part of the tattoo. “Come here, Justin.”

He turns around, glancing at her, “What?”

She drops her cigarette on the ground, smudging it with her foot. “We need to talk.”

He questions, “About what?”

“We need to talk about what happened.”

“It happened over five years ago. What’s there to talk about? Besides, you’ve had all this time to explain yourself.”

“I’ve had time, but you always shut me out. Things aren’t always what they seem.”

Justin bends over, massaging his abdomen.

Her face shows concern. “Justin, are you okay?” She comes closer, placing her hand around him.

Justin hides his face in her shirt, not allowing people to see how scared he is, until she holds him, making him feel less alone. He listens to every word out of her mouth, not willing to be all by himself again. He’s never more than a few inches from her, waiting for Trace to come back.

A ballad comes on as he’s in her arms gazing into her eyes. A chill runs through his spine, giving him goose bumps.

“Her eyes have me questioning life
But, can I leave behind my past?
Don’t want these sad tears to last!

Never thought love would come my way.
Unsure if I can set my heart free!
Jesus, please help guide me!

Is this part of my destiny?
She has my heart in her warm hands.
Can she give me what my angel can?”

Chp. 17

Trace drives Justin home from the club, apologizing for leaving him all alone. He assures Justin nobody is after him. Trace gives Justin a bottle of water. “Sip this to soothe your stomach.”

“I don’t think it helps much. My stomach is killing me. Are we almost home?”

“We’ll be there soon! Did you and Cameron talk?”

“We had a conversation.”

At home, Justin checks on Steven first. He’s happy to see Jonathan is with him. He’s proud of Jonathan for being so supportive of his younger brother.

He checks in on his son next, whose sound asleep. Justin kisses the child’s forehead.

His daughter wakes at the sound of his footsteps. She’s happy to see Daddy, and wants a hug. Justin hugs her, and gets his child back to sleep.

Justin’s still shaky about the club, and doesn’t want to go back.

His therapist suggests he be exposed to clubs, to overcome his fears. The therapist feels Justin should have a support system, because it’s traumatic for him.

To help Justin deal with his problem, he’ll be going to his brother’s high school dance. Justin’s nervous about attending, though they’re only in high school.

Cameron’s niece, Jasmine, attends the same high school as Jonathan. Cameron will be one of the main adults keeping the teens in order.

Britney will be dropping off Jamie Lynn, for Jamie’s date with Jonathan. The night spells disaster.

Justin’s in avoidance of Britney, staying out of view. He smiles warmly at Jamie. “You two have fun. I’ll be standing over there, if you need anything.”
It’s not long before he discovers Cameron is at the dance. He holds his head down, hoping she won’t notice him.

He gazes up, gasping, “Britney hasn’t left yet.” He sighs relieved, “but she doesn’t know what happened between me and Cameron. I’m not about to tell her, either.”

Chp. 18

Anxiety has a hold of him again, as he stands there miserably, and helpless. A tear drifts down his cheek, looking at the two that once made him happy, wondering if he could go back to that, or if those feelings are gone forever.

Like magic he ends up in her arms again. Justin’s in a daze, as she sways with him on the dance floor.

Justin notices Brad is trying to get Britney outside, so Brad can have some time with her. He laughs, because she’s out of his hair, and wasn’t able to start anything. He knows trouble is bound to happen.

“I’m the loser in it all
Both times I took the fall,
Got lost up in their game,
Only have myself to blame.

Heaven help me from above,
Guide me with your love,
They know I’m solo again
My heart one may win.

She held me in her arms,
Away from all my harms.
I’m less afraid with her near.
My life fills with some cheer.

I’m so scared to move on,
Sick of relationships gone wrong.
I pray heaven will lead the way,
A love that’ll last night and day.

Heaven help me from above,
Guide me with your love,
They know I’m solo again
My heart one may win.”
Cameron smiles, “Are you going to be okay, Justin?”

Justin remains silent, keeping his head on her shoulder. His body begins to tremble, until she begins dancing to the music. He’s glued to her, not willing to look around the room.

“Just tell me what’s bothering you, Justin. I want to help you. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

He begs, “Don’t let go of me, please!”

She grabs his hand. “Let’s go outside for a few minutes. I’ll hand over my duty to one of the other parents. My shift will be over in a few, any way. “

Outside he’s calmer, but terror is apparent in his blue eyes.

Justin hears his brother, Jonathan, screaming, and runs back inside with Cameron.

Justin sees Jamie on the floor, not moving. “What happened, Jonathan?”

“Some students were pushing us, and she fell. I feel it’s my fault. I hope she’s going to be alright.”

“Has someone called 911, and Britney?”

Jonathan stays close to her, “Jamie wake up, Baby.”

Justin and Cameron give Jonathan support, as the paramedics arrive.

Jamie’s eyes open, as they lift her onto the stretcher.

Britney, Brad, Justin, Jonathan, and Cameron wait at the hospital for word of how Jamie is doing.

Justin turns to Britney, peering into her eyes, something he hasn’t done in so long. Tears escape, falling down his face. “I’m really sorry, about what happened tonight.”

Britney hugs him. “It’s not you’re fault. The only ones to blame are the students. Jamie’s a tough kid. She’ll pull through.”

Chp. 19

Jamie’s staying the night at the hospital, just for observation.

Justin’s trying to coax his brother to come home, but he won’t budge. Justin understands how he feels. It brings him back to Aalyiah being sick, and him desiring to be there every moment, but they can’t stay. They’re not family, and visiting hours are long passed.

Britney looks out at Jonathan, who is in his brother’s arms, crying. She comes out of the room. “Why don’t you stay with Jamie and me tonight, Jonathan?”

Jonathan looks up at his brother, “Can I?”

Justin nods his head, “Sure, as long as Britney doesn’t mind. You’ll have to stay quiet, for Jamie to get her rest.”

“I will! I’ll be on my best behavior.”

“I’ll be back tomorrow morning, around nine.”

Brad and Cameron have already head home, due to visiting hours being over.

Cameron had to be back at the school for her niece anyway. She came along because Jamie knows her from other school dances.

Justin leaves, uneasy about leaving Jonathan with his ex girlfriend. He can’t stop thinking about what happened, and worrying about Jonathan.

Justin’s back for Jonathan in the morning. He stands outside of the room, not wanting to make much contact with Britney. Justin longs for the love, but is torn on having any kind of relationship with a female, aside from his daughter.

Britney says, “Hi”

Justin forces a smile, “Hi Britney. How’s Jamie doing?”

“She’s feeling a lot better. How are you feeling?”

“I’m alright, for a single parent. I can’t complain. I love them all so much.”

“That’s good. How’d you like to go out some time?”

“I thought you and Brad were together, after you two met at Daisy’s party.”

“We’re on and off. We think it’s best to see other people. He’s nice and all, but I don’t know. That’s not really important right now, Jamie is.”

Justin sighs, thinking to himself. “That’s what you told me, before I found out you cheated.”

Chp. 20

Later that day, “Has she cheated on my friend?” The question lingers in his mind, haunting him. Even if she did cheat, what is he to do? The damage would have been done, and nothing more could be said, on his part.

“The warning signs are there, but it’s not my place to get involved, or is it?” He’s confused on what to do. He has mixed feelings, because he doesn’t fully know what is going on between the two.

He’s been distancing himself from her for so long, that Justin has no clue what kind of person Britney has turned out to be. He’d hate to make such assumptions, and make a complete fool out of himself.

For the time being, he’s decided to stay quiet. He has other more important matters, being a parent to four kids. Relationships are at the bottom of his list, along with his music. “It’s funny how having kids changes your priorities.” Having a partner may make life easier on him, but might complicate the situation.

Justin rests with his five year old son, safely in his arms. He enjoys rocking his little boy in the rocking chair.

He smiles at his daughter, playing on the floor. His eyes close, as he takes a nap.

His son, Christopher, wakes him, “Daddy, no nap!” He pulls at his father’s knitted cap, nearly pulling it off, revealing Justin’s curls. “Let’s play!”

Justin smiles drowsily, “Play what?”

Christopher gets down off Justin’s lap, making his way towards the computer games. He points at it. “Daddy, this!”

Justin gets up from the chair, “Okay, but Daddy’s not good with computers. Do you know how to play it?”

Christopher nods his head, bringing the game over to his father. He opens up the case.

Justin gently removes the CD-ROM from the case, placing it in the CD drive. He waits for the game to load, but nothing happens.

Christopher points to the small image on the screen that represents the game. “Daddy, you have to press that!”

Justin sighs, “Alright.” His son is right, about how to get the game to launch.

He’s amazed how much the five year old knows about the computer. Justin’s always done other activities with his son, and left computer time for Jonathan and Christopher to do together.

The day has been fairly good for the Timberlake family. Justin kisses the three younger kids goodnight.

Daisy looks up at her father. “Where’s my Mommy again?”

Justin swallows hard. “She’s with Jesus.”

Daisy glances over at the angel on her wall, and faces her father again. “Is Mommy an Angel, Daddy?”

“I think so. Mommy always lit up a room.”

“Where can I see Mommy?”

“Mommy’s far away in heaven. She’s resting on fluffily clouds.”

“I want to see my Mommy. Everyone has a Mommy.”

“Not everyone has a mommy. You’re cousin’s Jonathan and Steven lost their Mommy. They don’t even have a daddy.”

“You’re our Daddy. The best Daddy ever! I want a mommy.”

“I’ll show you Mommy tomorrow.”

“We going to heaven?”

“No Sweetheart, a photo.”

Chp. 21

Daisy brushes her fingers along Justin’s stubble, hoping to arouse him. She whispers, “Daddy,” into his ear.

Justin smiles drowsily, focusing on her sweet face, “What would you like, Sweetheart?”

Her eyes widen, “Mommy’s picture.”

Justin yawns, “Okay Daisy, Daddy will get it for you, in a few minutes.”

Daisy follows her father to a large wooden chest. “What’s that?”

“It’s a chest full of Mommy’s things.”

Justin sorts through the box of photographs, everything that they basically had shared was in there. He takes out one of their only family photos, and places it in the child’s small hands. Justin’s heart aches.

“She’s pretty, Daddy! She has butterflies too!”

Justin laughs, not noticing the butterflies before, “She does, just like you!”

“I like Mommy’s dress!”

“I gave Mommy that on our first date.”

“Daddy, can I have Mommy’s dress?”

“When you’re older, you can wear it. “

“It’s a weddin dress, Daddy!”

“I guess you’ll have to wait until you marry, then!”

“Daddy, that’s too long. You got to be old to have a weddin!”

“Don’t worry. It won’t be too long of a wait.”

Justin cuddles her in his warm arms, seeing that she’s still sleepy. He carries her back to his bed. He places the blanket on her, as she holds onto the picture.

He feels slight pressure on his shoulders, and turns to see who it is.

He hears Aalyiah’s soothing voice, “You’re doing just fine.”
Justin closes his eyes, as his eyelids become heavy. His sadness subsides, as he falls asleep.

He wakes on the pillow with Daisy in his arms, not sure how he got like that. It didn’t matter to him as long as everyone is safe!

Chp. 22

Justin’s soft southern eyes water, as the sun hits his face. He slouches in the plush chair, with the coffee mug snugly in his hand. He glances around the room, trying to avoid the sun spots.

Cameron is coming over, to talk to him about something. He can’t imagine what. He’s been so busy with the kids. He hasn’t had time for something like this. He worries how the kids may react to her.

Silence is broken, as Brad walks in the room. “Britney’s pregnant, J!”

“She is? Is that a good thing?”

“I guess. We’re not even married yet!”

Justin laughs light heartedly, “You have nine months!”

“That’s cute, J! I’m so scared about all this. You have four. How do you do it?”

“There is no special formula, Brad. It comes with time. I’ve made some dumb mistakes, but you learn from it. Patience is the most important part about being a parent, and letting your child grow. At times you wish they could be young forever, until you see them making it through that new obstacle. You’ll be a great father.”

Cameron takes a seat on the couch. “Where are the kids?”

“My mom is taking care them, for a bit. She says I need a break from them. I don’t mind having those kids. They’re my life, and what I live for.”

“You should have a breather. You’re so young. You should eat some food. It’s not good to be this skinny, all the time.”

“I do eat, but never put on pounds. I don’t know what it is.”

“When’s the last time you went to the doctor?’

“Along time ago, I went. Why’d you come over?”
“I just wanted to see you again. “ She glances down at his legs, moving her eyes to his feet. She notices the braces are back, but doesn’t mention them.

Justin looks at her oddly, “Why you looking down there?”

“I like your jeans.”

His eyes narrow in on her, “You always hated my jeans before.”

“Well, maybe they’ve changed them!”

He mutters, “The only thing they changed is the price of the jeans.”

“Justin, can we go on a date?”

“Yeah, I guess. I need a babysitter for the kids, though.”

Chp. 23

The date goes about as smooth as it can. They’re both undecided which direction to head in. Dating others is still an option.

A beautiful Australian female stands before him, the next morning. Her light blond hair blows in the wind. She smiles warmly at him, taking in his gorgeous baby blue eyes, and friendly grin.

Justin immediately feels at ease around her, as if he knows her from somewhere. It seems odd, because he didn’t even know her name, or her purpose for crossing his path, but all would be revealed in time.

Chp. 24

“Hello Mr. Timberlake, My name is Donna. I’m sorry to be at your home so early in the morning. Your manager, Johnny Wright, says you’re looking forward to helping our organization.”

Justin forces a smile, wishing he has already put food in his stomach. “Come on in Donna. What exactly does this foundation do?”

She takes a seat, and clasps her hands together. “We raise money to help kids mainly affected with albinism. I’ve been helped greatly from the foundation. A man in your position could bring our organization a lot of money, to aide these kids with this illness.”

Justin studies her closely, “I think it’s an excellent idea. It’s always nice to help kids. I’m in the process of getting a support group for my youngest brother Steven. He suffers from bulimia, though the support group is for several different eating disorders. It feels great to give these young individuals a positive outlook on life, by giving them the building blocks to succeed.”

Donna shakes his hand. “Thank you, Mr. Timberlake.”

“You can call me Justin. Have we met before?”

“No, I don’t think we have. I just came over to America from Australia.”

Justin yawns, “I’ll see you later to discuss how we’re going to get this out there. I’m sorry for seeming tired. I’m not big on mornings.”

“That’s fine. I’m not much of a morning girl, myself. Maybe some cereal will wake you up.”

Justin hobbles to the door, closing it, after waving goodbye to Donna. He makes his way back into the kitchen, grabbing ice from the refrigerator, to ice his sore legs.

He has his coffee, and cereal, before the kids come in for their breakfast. Justin turns on the stove, and places a frying pan on top, drizzling in some oil. He pours the pancake mix into the pan, and waits a few minutes before flipping the pancake. He sets them on the table, along with maple syrup, jam, and orange juice.

Christopher loves his father’s pancakes. “Pancakes are messy, Daddy.”

Justin laughs, “They can be. Pancakes are good, though.”
“The syrup is the best, Daddy!”

“It’s made from a tree!”

Christopher gives Justin an odd look, “Trees aren’t yummy!”

“The syrup comes from inside maple trees.”

“Trees have bugs, Daddy. Where are the bugs?’

“They make sure there aren’t any bugs in there. The syrup goes through lots of processes before we can eat it.”

Chp. 25

The idea of Justin going to the doctor is stupid to him. He hates going for something so minor. His legs will heal, from going down on them hard. The swelling has got to come down, eventually. He’s used to pain. The hard part is it makes him unsteady on his feet. He’s sure he’ll be fine, as long as he doesn’t fall again. Every step is taken with caution.

The braces aren’t too bad. The braces give him extra padding, and keep his legs cool, due to the jelly inside of them.

Justin makes sure they can’t be seen, as he gets dressed for the day. Justin’s not one to worry people.

He hears the steps of a small child, coming closer. Christopher embraces his father. “Daddy, what are these?” His eyes widen taking in a better glimpse of the braces.

“They’re braces for my legs. They give support to the injured muscles.”

“Daddy, do you have to go to the hospital?”

“No, I don’t, Buddy.”

He smiles, “Good, Daddy. Daddy, do you miss Mommy?”

Justin’s eyes become cloudy, gazing into the innocent child’s brown eyes. He lightly touches his son’s silkily soft face. “I do, Christopher.”

“Daddy, will we get a Mommy?”

Justin’s heart picks up speed. “I don’t know, Christopher.”

“Daddy, please!”

“I can’t make promises, Buddy.”

Christopher walks away, heart broken.

Justin runs after him, down the hall. He picks his son up, holding him in his arms. “Buddy, Daddy’s sorry, I can’t give you a mommy. I’d like too, but I’m not in love with any girls.”

“You love Daisy!”

Justin chuckles, “Christopher, the love I have for Daisy is different. It’s a very special daddy love.”

“Daddy, I’ll find you a mommy.”

Justin cuddles him, “I can’t wait, Christopher. Who do you have in mind?”

Christopher grins, “Not telling, Daddy! It’s a surprise!”

Chp. 26

Months later, Wedding bells ring in Justin’s ears, as he gets in his tux, for Brad’s wedding. He makes sure to look near perfect in the white tux, curls all in place, million dollar smile, and tux fitting perfectly, with no wrinkles.

Brad groans, “Britney’s got stomach pains, Man.”

“It’s probably just nerves.”

“I hope you’re right. It’s a big day in her life. She’s going for the real deal, now.”

Brad sighs, “It’d better be the real deal.”

“It is. It’s great how you guys worked everything out.”

“She’s a beauty, even nine months pregnant. I can’t wait to see the little tike.”

“Right now you’ve got to get to the chapel. We’re five minutes late.”

The two hurry to the chapel, and stand there, slightly out of breath. They wait for Britney to come in her white dress, adorn with pink flowers.

Jonathan and Jamie stand near the alter. They gaze into the other ones eyes. Jonathan places his arms around her, moving in for a passionate kiss.

He pulls his hand away, to remove a box from his pocket. “I know we’re too young for marriage, so I bought you a friendship ring. I hope that our friendship will grow into something more and we’ll be getting married someday.”

Jamie pulls him closer, “I love it! It’s beautiful. But, nothing compares to the beauty in you. You’re a great man.”

The couple of the hour finally makes their way into the chapel, as Daisy makes her way down the isle, with the flower basket.

A timid young man follows, next. A small ring is mounted on a pillow that he carries to the couple. The child inches his way up to Brad and Britney. Everyone cheers Christopher on, as he reaches them.

Brad bends down to his level, “Thank you!”

Justin leads his son to one of the seats, next to his daughter, Daisy. He informs the youngsters, “We have to be good. The wedding is about to begin.”

Steven looks up at his older brother, seeing that he isn’t really enjoying the wedding. He whispers, “Its better off this way!”

Justin shakes his head in agreement. It isn’t that he didn’t want happiness for his best friend, but he and Britney had been life long friends, and one day it all came crashing down. His fairytale life style ended with a rude awakening. He mumbles, “Nothing in life is fair.” Justin composes himself, listening to the priest.

Justin’s eyes watch every movement she makes. It almost seems in slow motion. His blue eyes widen, seeing how uncomfortable she is. “Maybe it’s the dress or the lack of air in the room?” Justin rolls his eyes, “This is going to be a nightmare. Lord wake me, now! She’s going to fall. Something’s wrong. “Stop the ceremony! She doesn’t look good!”

All eyes are on Justin, as his heart races. He makes his way to the front of the room, trying to catch a breath.

Chp. 27

Brad stares at Justin strangely, “She’ll be fine, Justin.”

Britney smiles, back at Justin, “Don’t worry about me.”

Justin knows better than that, but takes his seat again.

Sweat pours off his pale face. Minutes seem like hours, as he sticks his hands in his pockets He adjusts his tie so many times, he’s lost count. He crosses his fingers, “Make it a few more minutes, Britney.” He holds his breath, as the ceremony comes to a close.

His breathing is labored, as everyone stands to clap for the new married couple. He feels dizzy, from his rapid heartbeat. Justin’s hands tremble. He tells himself, “Nice deep breaths,” as he sits back down.

Justin’s feeling better during the party. Though he feels something is wrong with Britney. He imagines she’s in the early stages of labor.

Justin wishes she would tell someone how much pain she is in, but knows she isn’t like that. Justin recognizes all Britney’s cues. She and he go way back, to early childhood.

It’s his turn to dance with the bride, and he couldn’t be more nervous. His arms wrap around her, as his hands shake.

The slow motion has returned, as they dance. He watches as she grabs at her stomach, in pain, and her eyes close. His hand comes up behind her head. “Britney you’re in labor. Aren’t you?”

She opens her eyes, tears streaming down her face, “Yes.”

Justin whispers, “Why’d you wait?”

“I wanted to be married, before I gave birth.”

Justin motions for Brad to come over, as he holds her in his arms. “Brad, she’s in labor! We need to get her to the hospital, now!”

Chp. 28

Justin helps Britney get on the floor, because she can’t make it any further. He places his jacket underneath her head. “Everyone, but Brad, Jamie and Jonathan step away. It all comes back to him about getting a woman through pregnancy, as he stays at the bottom end of her, and Brad takes the front end.

Justin snaps, “No photography! She needs as much peace, as possible. The baby’s coming.”

Guest pile out of the room, some angered that the party came to a close, others stay to watch the birth, keeping quiet.

Jonathan steps forward, with some clean table cloths. He’s returning, because his brother requested he find something to keep Britney and the baby warm.

“Thanks Jonathan. Did Jamie call 911?”

Jonathan nods his head, “Yes, they’ll be here shortly. How’s she doing?”

Brad screams, “Ouch Honey! Don’t be so rough with my ear!”

Britney cries, “The pain is bad, and this is half your fault!”

Britney is becoming fatigued from pushing so hard. She starts to fall asleep.

Justin nudges her, “You can’t go to sleep, Britney. You have to stay awake. You have to deliver the baby.”

Brad kisses her. “Britney, the paramedics are on the way. Just hold in there.”

Britney breathes heavily, as Jonathan holds Jamie tightly in his arms. “Justin will take good care of her. He’s good with these situations.” He massages her back, and wipes away her tears. “I’m right here, for you.”

Justin looks back at his brother, “Maybe you two should wait outside.”

Jonathan shakes his head, knowing how serious things are. He places his hand around Jamie, leading her outside.”
Justin gasps, “I don’t know what is going wrong. She shouldn’t be barely breathing. Her face is blue. The pregnancy’s been fine up until now.”

Two hours later, a healthy baby girl is born. The doctors have no reason for why Britney became so sick during pregnancy, but with a little rest, she should be fine. Her breathing is being monitored.

Destiny Lynn is a perfect addition to the newly married couple’s life.

Chp. 29

While Brad is busy helping care for his new daughter, Justin’s been dating Cameron. The relationship has been on and off.

He’s working hard on his many projects, like the Albinism Campaign. He’s already raised awareness through public service announcements, TV and radio, appearances, magazine articles.

Justin’s still in wonderment about the Australian girl. It all comes to him, as he is searching through some old albums, of his grandmother’s. “There she is.” He sees that his Grandma has several pictures of the Australian girl, but doesn’t understand why.

His grandmother smiles, wearily, “That’s Donna, Justin. I used to show you her pictures when you were younger. You were only seven when she was born. You used to call her country, ‘Aus-taila.’ “

“Your Granddaddy traveled there to help families with financial set backs, and came upon the Meekings Family. He helped them, by getting her Dad a good job. We became friends with them, but don’t see each other much. Donna wouldn’t remember us, because she was only two the last time we saw her.”

Justin smiles, “She’s pretty. I’m glad I got to meet her.”

His grandmother hugs him, “Oh you have?”

Justin nods his head, “Yep, she’s part of my foundation.”

“That’s wonderful, that you finally had the chance to meet her. We couldn’t bring you before. You were too little.”

“I have to be getting back to the house. Jonathan is watching the kids. Thanks Granny for everything.”

She hugs him, “You’re welcome, Justin.”

Chp. 30

Daisy Timberlake turns the pages of the worn scrapbook. The album starts with photographs of her father with her mom. Several pages later are pictures of the three of them together. A tear drifts down from her eye, glancing at the beautiful dress she’d loved as a child.

She closes the book, glancing down at the dress that fit perfectly on her slender body. The moment is bitter sweet, finally getting her wish to wear it. Butterflies are everywhere she looks, as her father kisses her cheek.

“I feel Aalyiah, Daisy. Your Mom’s excited about today. That’s why she sent all these butterflies. She was right about all our butterfly kisses, they kept us strong. They always will.”

“Daddy, I will always love you! I wish Mom could be here for this. Cameron’s a good Mom, but I miss not having my real mom. “

Everyone’s at her wedding, smiling, and cheering her and her new husband on. She glances out into the sea of people, recognizing one very special face.

A face she hasn’t seen, in so long. If she hadn’t been reminded with photos, she wouldn’t know who this glowing individual was. The woman smiles, softly, blowing kisses in her direction.

Daisy beams, back at her mother, mouthing, “I love you.”

She disappears, as a butterfly lands on Daisy’s dress, and then flies into the palm of her hand.

Justin begins a song, in honor of the love for his daughter.

“Eyes are tender and sweet,
You make my life complete.
New step makes me week in the knees.
Thank the lord for being your Daddy.
The years seem to have slipped by.
Daddy's little girl you are, in my eyes,
With those butterflies in your hair,
And that smile, that is always there.
Remember holding you in my arms,
To this day I want to keep safe from harm.”

The wedding is perfect in every way, and brings much joy to the Timberlake Family.

The butterfly never leaves Daisy through the ceremony. She gently gives the butterfly to Justin.

Justin notices that the butterfly matches the one on his daughter’s wedding dress, and knows this is more than continence. He wipes away his tears, seeing the glow in his daughter, he saw in Aalyiah. It didn’t matter that people are surrounding Daisy. Her glow draws Justin to her.

Chp. 31

One year later, Justin picks up the music box from the shelf, wiping off the dust. He approaches the large table, where a smiley, one year old sits.

Justin bends down to Lily’s level, “Happy 1st Birthday, Lily.”

Lily looks up at him, with butterfly barrettes in her hair, reaching her small arms out for a hug. He picks her up. He kisses her. “That’s a butterfly kiss.”

She kisses him on the cheek, “But kiss.”

Justin laughs, “Butterfly Kiss. I have a present for you, Sweetheart. This used to be Mommy’s.”

Justin shows his granddaughter the musical box, as he kisses her forehead. He smiles, as he happens to glance out of the slider. A butterfly is mounted on the glass.

Daisy comes into the room, and hugs her father. “I see you’re teaching her about our butterfly kisses.”

Justin nods his head, “The tradition needs to live on!”

“It will, Daddy. It will. Mom’s giving her blessing on that.”

Justin opens the slider, letting in the butterfly.

The butterfly lands on the one year old, not moving.

Lily doesn’t fear it, and calls it, “But fly.”

The butterfly leaves, after a quick glimpse of Lily’s face.
