Lucky By: Randi Evans 22 year old Justin Timberlake was walking down a crowded street, when he sees a girl in danger. Justin pushes the girl out of the way from the falling object from above. The brick lies beside him.
She rushes over to him franticly, asking, if he was alright. Justin's stunned, by what just happened. He tells her, he wants to go to his mother's house, but she feels Justin should be checked over by the EMTS first, because he doesn't remember the incident.
They bring him to the hospital for observation. She thanks him for saving her life, before the doors shut and he's brought into the hospital. Justin closes his eyes trying to relax. He falls asleep from medicine they give him, to ease his pain.
Justin opens his eyes, sleepily. The girl he saved is in front of him. She tells him she’s going to find a way to repay him for his good deed. Justin has to stay the night but is released the next day. Five years later, Justin goes to a local Hard Rock CafĂ©. “Damn, I’m all most out of gass. I’ll have to get it after I eat, because this is the only place around for miles.” He gets out of his blue car quickly. He rushes back to his car, because he forgot to lock it. Justin hurries inside of the restaurant to get out of the rain that started to fall.
He waits at a table impatiently. Justin taps his foot to the loud music. The waitress comes, and takes his order. “What would you like to order? I’m sorry to keep you waiting.”
He smiles handing her the menu, “I’ll have a house salad, and an iced tea, thank you! “He attempts to smile.
“I’ll be right back with your drink, and salad. Do you remember me from before?” Justin stares at her blankly. “I’m sorry I don’t recall us meeting before.”
“You saved my life, about five years ago. You pushed me out of the way when a brick fell from a building. It’s good to see your doing better now. When I left, you were sleepy from the medication they gave you. Maybe, that’s why you don’t remember. I still am going to repay you for helping me.”
“I would do it for anyone. I just don’t remember it. I hope I’m not being rude. I’m usually not this crazy, but my wife is expecting a baby, and I’m extremely excited about it. This will be our first child.”
She smiles, “That’s great. I’m sure you’ll be a great father.”
“What happened to your shirt?” He notices blotchy red spots all over it.
“Oh, the cook spilled tomato sauce all over it.” She blushes
“It got on your arms too! He must be a messy chef. I hope that stain comes out. Are you feeling alright? You seem, awe well. I don’t want to be rude. You’re a lovely looking girl.”
She tells him, “I’ll be right back.” Justin listens to the music, as he hears bits, and pieces of the local news.
She returns with his salad, and drink. She serves him, and then returns to the kitchen.
Justin is approached by one of the people that works at the restaurant. “My name’s Mike. I’m sorry to bother you, but I was wondering how you got your food?”
“A nice looking girl in a white shirt, with red stains all over it, served me. She got stains from being in the kitchen, and having tomato sauce accidentally poured on it.
Mike doesn’t know what Justin’s talking about. “Maybe, she’s new. Nobody in the kitchen has spilled tomato sauce, or was wearing a white shirt. Enjoy your meal.” Justin and Mike both are confused. Justin continues eating his diner, as Mike walks away.
The woman, his waitress comes back. “Are you enjoying your meal?”
“Yeah, but a guy named Mike tells me that he hasn’t seen any female worker with a white shirt on like you have, with tomato sauce spilled on it.” “I’m new, and not everyone knows me yet.”
“He tells me that maybe the case, as well.”
She asks nervously, “Have you been watching the news tonight on TV?” “No, I haven’t, should I have?”“I don’t know. It just seems like you’d watch the evening news.”“I hardly ever get to watch it. I’m far too busy. Can, I have my bill now?”“Are you sure I can’t offer you something else? More tea might help ease your nerves. It’s still stormy out there. You may want to wait awhile.”“I really have to get going. I need to get gass too, and it is getting dark. My wife worries about me, being out at night.”“Alright, I’ll be right back.” She places her hair piece on the table, and walks away. Mike comes back. “I recognize that hair piece. Where did you get it?”The girl that waited on me is wearing it. She’s friendly, but her shirt is freaking me out. She seems to want me to stay here, for some reason. Is this a new worker?”“No, she is not. She doesn’t work here anymore, as of this afternoon.”“What do you mean, doesn’t work here as of this afternoon?” Justin’s face turns white.“Somebody took her life today. They haven’t caught him, yet. I’m surprised you didn’t hear it on the evening news. I don’t believe in ghosts, but your face gives me a feeling like you may have just seen one.”“I saved her life, five years ago, and now someone else took it. She keeps telling me that she’s going to repay me for the good deed I did. The killer must have me as the next target, but the cops are never going to believe me. I still have to get gass, but I really don’t want too. Do you have a flashlight?”“Yes, I do. What do you need it for?”“Then, I’ll at least be able to see what is going on. I think I’ll have the cops come check out my car, anyway.”“Don’t you lock your car?”“Yeah, I do!”“Then, it’ll be fine. Just make sure you lock it when you go to the gass station. You better be going. It’s getting dark fast.”Justin starts to walk out, when Mike runs up to him. “Hey, you forgot your cell phone. You may need it.”“Thanks.” Justin heads to the gass station quickly. He tries to assure himself that everything is going to be fine. He pumps the gass. Justin starts to scream, but bites his lip. “Damn I didn’t lock door! I’m screwed now, probably.” He puts his fingers through his curly hair. “I’m a man, so I need to act like one. Well, damn, I’m not going to get in that car now.”He feels someone touch his shoulder, and nearly jumps a mile. “Shhh, I’m not going to hurt you Justin. I’ve come to help you.” He turns around. “You have that same look you had back the first time we met. The cops are here. Justin, everything’s going to fine.” Justin’s eyes close.Justin’s eyes open, as he looks around. “What happened? Where am I?”A police officer tells him, “You’re at a gass station. Good thing you didn’t enter your car. The killer was inside.Justin looks at him strangely,” Yeah, that’s why I blanked out.” Justin’s happy that he is safe, but sad as he glances at his hand, because he’s holding the girls hair piece. He starts to recall the events that lead up to this point in time. He grasps the hair piece in his hand, as he gets into his car, and drives back home to his wife, who he doesn’t tell the tale too. He feels, hardly, no one would believe it.
